22 Jul 2024 - NSTR Last Day at Gettysburg PA

We had a relatively leisurely last day here at Gettysburg.  Doreen did a couple loads of laundry this morning.  Laundry is located up in the main office building so it is a bit of a walk.  Once she returned the skies opened up and down came the rain.  It rained hard off and on for a couple hours.

I got caught up on some admin stuff and computer work, plus I got out the maps for our travels tomorrow and modified the route a bit based on Garmin's recommendations which factor in our length, width, height, weight and propane on board.  As I suspected, the shortcut through the woods across a county road that Google chose was not the recommended route.  So we will go a bit to the south through Emmitsburg MD to Frederick MD and then west on I-70, I-68 and I-79 to Weston WV.  At Weston there is a detour due to a bridge being replaced, but we received intel on that from the campground in advance.

Later in the afternoon we stopped at a grocery store for just a few items and then fueled the truck before our journey tomorrow, which is planned to be about 260 miles.

We are headed to Briar Point Campground which is located in the Stonewall Resort State Park, about 10 miles south of the town of Weston WV.  Our campsite is located right on the West Fork River, which should be nice.

From the campground there is a boardwalk that connects it to the resort area across the river. So it looks like some nice walking areas that Liberty will enjoy.

We are both looking forward to this stop.  We have never explored West Virginia much and for just a three night stay we have a pretty lengthy list of things we want to see here.  We will save that list for tomorrow.
