Wow, this trip is really clicking away! We departed Round Top Campground in Gettysburg PA this morning just before 0800 hrs and headed south into Maryland to Frederick MD.
From Frederick we headed west and north on I-70 to I-68 along the Maryland / Pennsylvania border. This route took us through the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, which was one of our goals on this trip. We will see more of the Appalachians as we continue south in the days to come.
East of Morgantown we crossed over into West Virginia.
Red is our campsite
We checked in quickly with a grouchy receptionist.. and made our way to our campsite. Ours is a full hookup 50A back-in site. They are paved spots but ours is quite unlevel side to side....why? Why would you pave a spot unlevel?? SMH
Sites are plenty deep for the RV and the big ol' brown truck.
A nice shelter house behind us.
As we set up we quickly met our very nice neighbors. They have several campsites here with family members spread out between them. Lots of young kids having fun riding their bikes and scooters, playing in the playground, cooking smores and making memories!! It's what it is all about!
We enjoyed brats and onions on the grill and then a walk around the park including over the "boardwalk" to the resort.
The boardwalk is highlighted in yellow and connects the campground with the resort.
Sand beach for the campers!
The trail to the boardwalk. Liberty is on the scent!
Beautiful reflections on the water.
Young lady caught a whopper off the boardwalk !!
A tour boat at the resort dock.
The huge resort in the background.
- Tomorrow we will tour the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum! If you don't hear from us for a while we took up residency there!!
- Thursday we will tour the Mountaineer Military Museum.
- Between Wednesday and Thursday we plan to visit:
- The Museum of American Glass
- The Appalachians Oddities store
- The Appalachian Glass Company
- Lambert's Vintage Winery
- And maybe the South Texas Barbecue Company!
