4 May 2024 - Last Day of Texas Alliance Rally

Today was the last day of the Texas Alliance Rally.  Last night we were up nearly all night with Liberty.  As we mentioned in last night's blog entry, she had vomited earlier with a touch of red in there so she did not feel good and could not get comfortable. The morning came very early, but Liberty finally got some sleep and the medication we gave her last night seemed to make a difference as she got some sleep this morning and acted a bit better.  Doreen and I were toast, but she was better!  So we were dragging most of the morning.  We hung around the coach and then worked together to make her cowboy hat cookies for the pot luck appetizer tonight.  These feature a Pringles potato chip dipped in chocolate, then a Rolo chocolate candy is placed on top and a piece of red licorice rope is looped around the Rolo.

The Rally's "Pet Parade" was held at  1015 hrs but Liberty took a rain check on that and rested in the coach.  Doreen took a few pictures of all the pets and their owners.

After the Pet Parade we were treated to Texas barbecue sandwiches that featured smoked meat by a couple of our Texas Allies.  During lunch they drew for more prizes and one of our numbers was picked.  We had our choice of a few items and chose this Alliance hat for daughter Michelle who owns an Alliance 390MP.

Following lunch we gathered for the group photo outside near the display coaches.  They had a drone taking pictures from above, and a photographer taking pictures from a tripod.  We have not seen those yet, but here is the aerial picture of everyone with their Rally blue shirts on.

After the group photos we returned to the coach and crashed for a bit.  Midway through the afternoon we were notified our ticket had been drawn for a prize with Blue Compass RV, so we walked down to their tent and Doreen spun the "wheel of fortune"! We won a set of base pad levelers.

At 1730 hrs we gathered in the main building for appetizers, Redneck margaritas and drinks were followed by the fun auction.  Each couple was to donate an item of value $50 or greater, wrapped to hide the identity and then they are bid on as a fund raiser.  The funds are used to support next year's rally and also donated to a local non-profit.  We donated a bourbon basket from Rebecca Creek Distillery that we visited with our friend Frank Leota in San Antonio.  The basket brought over $100 I believe.

During the ceremony tonight it was announced that the 2025 Texas Alliance Rally will be held 29 Apr-3 May at the Camp Margaritaville RV Resort in Crystal TX.  We would love to come back for this but will consider our schedule for next year's RV journey and plan as we are able.

That concludes the 2024 Texas Alliance Rally.  Tomorrow many will depart.  We are hanging around until Monday and will use tomorrow to do laundry, grocery shopping, tank dumping, hose stowing and maybe even a Cinco de Mayo downtown at a local Mexican restaurant.
