23 Jun 2024 - Rainy Day and Dinner with the Smalls

Rainy, drizzly day here most of the day.  Doreen and I stayed "home" and got caught up on computer work and other things.  We also tuned into grandson Calvin and grandson Daniel baseball games via the Game Changer app. I used the available time to send emails to those friends and military buddies we will see in the near future to reconfirm our timeline and travel plans with them.

Later we made plans to go out for dinner with Kirk and Pam at the River Driver's Restaurant which is part of the New England Outdoor Center (NEOC) and not far from here.

The Knife Edge restaurant we went to yesterday with Tony Campbell and his family is also part of this group.  They also have a large event center way up on the hill with an awesome view of Mount Katahdin on a clear day!

So we met Kirk and Pam at the River Drivers Restaurant at 1730 hrs and had a drink and a great meal.  The same locally brewed beers that were served at the Knife Edge are served here too so I ordered another blonde ale today.  The Knife Edge menu revolves around there awesome open-hearth pizza oven where the menu here is more traditional.  Kirk and I both had the ribeye steak, which was awesome, and I also had some lobster bisque.  Pam had a lobster roll dinner also with lobster bisque and Doreen had a burger,

Doreen loved a picture they had of the Millinocket Lake that we cruised yesterday on Kirk's pontoon boat.  It almost looked 3D with the rocks, and Doreen had visions of recreating it with actual rocks!

The rest of the decor included an iconic stuffed moose (pictured above) and a sign referencing Mount Katahdin and the Appalachian Trail.

We had a great time with Kirk and Pam and the food was outstanding.  The steak I had was a monster and I brought two thirds of it back here for future meals!

Tomorrow's plan is yet to be determined.  Kirk and Pam are tied up until the early afternoon so we may go into town and knock out the laundry in the morning.
