13 Apr 2024 - Tour Planning, Grandson Baseball, Late Lunch at Chuy's, Relaxation Outside

This morning we spent some time planning what we want to see this week here in San Antonio.  We have visited and camped in the San Antonio area multiple times before so we won't spend time go back to various sites such as the Missions, the Alamo, etc.  In addition to seeing our friends Frank and Vanessa, as time permits we want to see the Tower of the Americas, Historic Market Square,  the River Walk, Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, Natural Bridge Caverns, Rebecca Creek Distillery, and possibly some others.

Planning our touring is important for time management.  That goes without saying.  But we have to be deliberate about planning our touring because once we unhook our trailer, our 21.61 foot long,  8.62 foot wide, 6.52 feet tall, 8K lbs big ol' brown truck with big "hips' due to it's dual rear wheels becomes our touring vehicle.  It usually won't fit in parking garages/ramps so we usually look for on-street or surface lot parking.  Even with that it's turning radius sucks, so parking can really be a challenge especially in bigger cities.  We deliberately plan most everywhere we go, using Google maps aerial view to assess routes and potential parking spots.  Our Garmin GPS is our friend and we almost never navigate to an address - we use GPS coordinates.  So all that sounds like a lot, but it is not that difficult with a little planning time.  So we started that this morning.

Technology has come a long ways, especially when it comes to youth sports.  We talked about it before, but for most sports there is an app that facilitates watching a streamed broadcast.  Today we tuned into Game Changer on the iPad and then cast it to our 50" HDTV in our coach.  The clarity is amazing and there is sound of course but there is also a complete box score feature and other amenities.  So we watched grandson Daniel play both of his 13U games today.  We typically is the catcher but also played shortstop and 2nd base, plus he was the closer for the second game striking out the side for the win!

After the second game we headed out for a late lunch to a Texas Mexican chain restaurant called Chuy's.  Their food is great and the margarita's were delicious!

We came back and enjoyed a cool evening in the campground, walking Liberty around and then sitting outside and enjoying the weather.

Tomorrow morning Daniel plays baseball again at 1000.  We will grill some of the Iowa meat we brought with us for dinner.  Life is good!
