2 Apr 2024 - Visit from High School Classmate and Last Day at Lawrence KS

Today we were contacted by one of our besties from high school Elaine Burkhart Dubray, who lives SW of Kansas City.  She read our blog post that we were here and drove up to see us! They had been wintering in Arizona and just got home so it was lucky we were able to reconnect.

Elaine was one of the Northern University High School class of 1973 teammates that helped plan our 50th class reunion last summer.  It is so fun to get together with the ol' crew from our high school days and catch up.  Elaine is always so much fun and the laughter is non-stop!

Our end spot with nice yard and patio area.

Most of the morning before Elaine got here it was cold and rainy, so we abandoned our plans to walk around in the historic Lawrence downtown area, but better rain than the snow they were getting back at home today.  So we hunkered down and got a few things done around here.  Somewhere along the line we lost 12 volts DC that feeds both rear sconce lights on either side of our sofa.  So I emailed the Alliance service department to determine the path of the feed wire, which should save me some time troubleshooting..

This morning we were still reveling in last night's Iowa Women's basketball team win over LSU.  That team is so fun to watch and we wish them good luck as they face UConn on Friday for the Final Four.  We will be traveling from Wichita to Oklahoma City on Friday but we should be there in plenty of time to catch the game at 2023 hrs that evening.  After lunch we headed into town and refueled the truck and then came back to wait for Elaine to arrive.

This evening Doreen stowed the inside items and got things ready to go while I worked outside dumping tanks, flushing and stowing hoses in preparation for our relatively short 164 mile trip tomorrow to McConnell Air Force Base, our next stop.  There we will reconnect with retired Air National Guard State Command Chief  John Kimball and his friend Jane.  It will be great to see them again!
